The following link has a list of the top 20 food additives to avoid. You’ll notice that many of these should be avoided especially if you suffer from asthma, rhinitis, or other allergies, which are so prevalent today in children and adults. Click here to see the list.

Please note that the second item on the list is amaranth. This is NOT the same as the amaranth that we recommend as a healthy “grain” on the Eating Alive Program. Amaranth is actually a seed that’s high in protein and gluten-free (for more info, see the Health Tip about amaranth.) Unfortunately, there is also a synthetic dye that has been named “amaranth” because it’s similar in color to the natural pigments found in amaranth.
